Bargaining Sanctions

The application of sanctions can sometimes occur during the negotiation of a new or renewal collective agreement. The Ontario Labour Relations Act governs the application and timing of sanctions during the bargaining process.

All current and prospective members of OSSTF/FEESO need to be aware of the application of sanctions against any employer and to govern their actions according to the Constitution and Bylaws of OSSTF/FEESO.

Actions by the union could include the issuance of “Pink” Information Bulletins, or sanctions such as limited or full withdrawals of services. Sanctions applied by the employer could included changes to the terms and conditions of employment or lockouts.
